Maestrale Luxury Experience

Yacht Etiquette: A First-Timer's Guide
Embarking on your first luxury yacht charter is an exhilarating experience. To ensure you and your guests have the best possible time while respecting the crew and the vessel, here's our guide to essential yacht etiquette.
The Barefoot Rule
Most luxury yachts have a "soft shoes" or "no shoes" policy to protect the expensive teak decking and interior carpets. Be prepared to leave your shoes in the "shoe basket" on the aft deck when you board. If you must wear shoes, ensure they are clean, white-soled boat shoes used only on board.
Respect the Crew's Quarters
While the crew is there to provide exceptional service, they also need their privacy and rest. Avoid entering the crew galley or cabins unless invited. Similarly, keep the bridge clear during complex maneuvers or docking unless the captain indicates otherwise.
Communication is Key
If you have specific requests or if your plans change, communicate them to the lead stewardess or the captain as early as possible. This allows the crew to make necessary arrangements and ensures your experience remains seamless.
Tipping Etiquette
It's customary to leave a tip for the crew at the end of your charter. The industry standard is between 10% and 20% of the base charter fee, depending on the level of service. This is usually given to the captain, who distributes it equally among all crew members.
